Pollinator Meadow - Vesica Pisces
Landscaping by Connor Smith & Design by Brenden Wagner
Sponsored by Sustainable Warwick & Maintained by Warwick DPW and Volunteers Like You!
May 6, 2024
Work on the very first Pollinator Meadow within Transformation Trails has officially begun!
Early in May 2024, a group of about 10 volunteers led by Connor Smith set out to cover this 50' x 70' space
within the park that Warwick DPW has been prepping with close-mows for the last year and a half.
Connor Smith says, "The area was mowed and a fabric was laid down to smother the weeds. During the growing season,
the fabric will be pulled up and the ground roughed up to allow the rest of the weeds to be germinated.
Then the fabric will be laid down again. In the Fall of 2024, seeds will be planted to come up in the Spring of 2025."
Brenden Wagner's design process for the Vesica Pisces Pollinator Meadow is informed by his deep connection to Nature and knowledge of sacred geometries. In mathematics, the Vesica Pisces is considered the 'mother of geometric shapes' and consists of two identical, overlapping circles - speaking of the intersection of worlds - as well as the unity of opposites.

space and free Sculpture space - with Mount Peter hosting a portion of NY's Appalachian Trail in the background.

Next Spring - this sea of landscape fabric will boast a sea of gorgeous pollinator plantings! One of the Vesica Pisces circles will be planted with yellow flowering plants, and the other circle will be planted with purple flowering plants. The resulting central oval will become a delightful mix of yellow and purple flowers - a nod toward the Warwick School District's colors!
